If you spend several hours in the library, you may see several different members of the Research Services Staff serve their turn at the Research Services Desk, which is one half of the Research & Technology Desk. If you have questions about such things as the library catalog menus, indexes, getting materials from other libraries, or Language 102, ask here. Faculty members are encouraged to alert the Research Services Staff of course assignments involving library research. Advance notice helps us gather needed materials or information before the students begin their work in the library. Consult the library calendar for changes in summer, exam week, interim and holiday hours. Paper calendars are available at the Circulation Desk. InstructionRamsey Library currently assists Literature Department faculty with Language 102, a General Education course that prepares students to find information in the academic library environment. In addition, librarians also provide course-related instructional sessions tailored to specific assignments or generalized to provide an overview of a subject area. Requests for course-related instructional sessions should be made at least one week in advance. For more information, call the Research Services Desk or consult the Faculty/Staff Directory for the name, phone number and e-mail address of the librarian responsible for a specific subject discipline. Research GuidesBibliographies and other Research Guides to the use of the library and its collections are available on the literature racks near the Research Services Desk. Document DeliveryRequest forms for interlibrary loans and ABC Express (journals from ASU and WCU) are available at the Research Services Desk. Instructions for accessing other document delivery services are also available at the Research Services Desk. Electronic ResourcesElectronic Resources include NC LIVE databases and UNCA subscriptions to online services, such as InfoTrac, FirstSearch, and Ingenta.
